Shaka Ponk live @ The Rockhal

I’ve photographed them once before and I was blown away by their stage show. Granted it’s not for the faint hearted but wow ….. This time around they were even more impressive,  with a massive stage that was very well designed. Once the show starts it’s a roller coaster of action and fun. On a technical note: With the impressed stage came impressive lighting. Although the changes from bright to dark made it pretty challenging there were enough well lit moments to catch great shots. I used the 15mm F2.8 and the 24-70 F2.8 for this show. The rest of the set can be seen here on...

Within Temptation li...

I checked the tour videos on Youtube before going to the show, it looked promising. Sadly the show did not deliver what their promotion videos promised. I am biased as I was disappointed by the photo rules, but even musically I found the beginning of the show to be rather flat. That changed a...

The Rocky Horror Show live @ The Rockhal Feb28

The Rocky Horror Show live @ The Rockhal

Yesterday was a first for me as in I’ve shot a musical. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of stage, shooting position or action on stage. I hadn’t seen the Rocky Horror Show before. It turns out I have 25 minutes to shoot, which is a lot more than the usual three songs. Since it was a musical I decided to give the Phase One a ride to see how the system performs in extreme light. The Rocky Horror Show was nice to watch, not my favourite though, but the voices were all amazing. If they perform close to you and you are available that evening make sure to check them out, it will make for an interesting evening. On a...

Archive live @ Den Atelier Feb25

Archive live @ Den A...

It’s the third time I’ve photographed Archive, and it’s always different, musically as well as photographically. They tour to promote their 2015 album Restriction. I was quite confused when they started as their lead wasn’t singing, instead he was on the guitar....

Korn live @ The Rockhal Feb05

Korn live @ The Rockhal

Korn is one of those bands that I used to listen too when I was a teenager. I thing that I remember best are the bagpipes at the begining of Shoots and Ladders. I loved them and I am glad that they are still up and running. Being a fan of Alien myself I was really curious to see the microphone stand that was designed by H.R. Giger. It didn’t disappoint …. On a technical note: Light was kind of a challenge for this one. It was nice to look at for the show, but to shoot it was a bit intense. It changed from extreme lights to darks and back to stroboscopes. Those were three very intense minutes. Furthermore they played an Intro...

The Kooks @ Den Atelier Feb02

The Kooks @ Den Atel...

It’s the second time around that I’ve photographed The Kooks at Den Atelier. They came a long way from 2010 on stage, I remember it felt quite chaotic back then. But last night they had their act together and performed a very solid show at the sold out venue. They seem more...
